Our first elevator pitch - at the Eco Congress in Cologne

On Thursday I went to the Eco-Congress in Cologne to take part in our first elevator pitch. There were about 200 participants from around the German Internet World at the congress - the sessions and talks were very interesting!

During the 30min Elevator Pitch 8 Start-Ups presented their businesses. We were fortunate enough to be one of them. I had never taken part in an Elevator Pitch before. All slides were automatically timed and each Start-Up had 4 min to present (I used  9 slides, each showing 27 seconds). What I didn't know before was that Sascha Lobo was moderating the Pitch and was asking questions in between which of course made it even harded. But due to the given time frame and Sascha's questions the entire pitch was interesting to the audience.

One thing I noted that some of the presentations were too much product focused and not so much on the general problem they're solving. I'm still deciding on how our presentation was in that respect - but it's clearly something we'll be focusing on in our next one's. Surely hope, we'll be invited to the Eco-Kongress next year, it was definetly worth going.

Thanks again for the entire Eco-Team (especially Valentina) for having us and organizing the great talks! :)

We have already started rechecking locations, as soon as we know where the event will be happening, we'll make sure to let you know.

If anybody of you is interested in sponsoring the event, please get in touch with Hendric (hendric at jimdo.com). And a big thanks to Cellity for helping us organizing the event.

Jimdo on Tour

Last weekend we went on our first company tour - did a walk to the small island Neuwerk which is not far from Cuxhaven where we founded Jimdo on an old farm. It was so great to spend a whole weekend with the team - to chill, play games, and talk about the next innovations. It was a very special weekend, read more in our Jimdo-Blog.

Meet Scobleizer

Last year on my 4-day trip to the U.S. I had the chance of meeting Robert Scoble. Robert is not only probably the best well known geek in the U.S. but also a very nice guy. It was a great experience meeting him! Robert frequently interviews Start-Ups on FastCompany.tv.

When I met Robert last year I was lucky enough that he interviewed me (thanks again Robert!!)! Now, you have the chance of meeting him, too! Watch his seesmic-video he just posted below and check out the follow-up discussion on Friendfeed, where he also describes how to get into contact with him.

New Jimdo racer

My dad is one of our biggest Jimdo fans - and he's quite creative when it comes to unusual advertising methods. But have a look yourself :-)
